The first time you open Flashcards on a concept, its cards are written from your own study material: terms and definitions, numbers, formulas and names, each with the page it came from. Flip, say whether you had it, and the cards you miss come back sooner.

How it works

Open a concept's deck
Its cards are written from the passages behind the concept, usually while you are still reading its page, and kept for next time.

Say it, then flip
Say the answer to yourself, then flip the card. The back has the answer, with the Source and page it came from.

Got it or Missed it
Mark each card. A card you miss is due again the next day, and one you get right stays away longer each time.
Cards only where a card works
A card is written only where a short front and back works: a term and its definition, a number, a formula, a name. If your study material supports three good cards on a concept, you get three, and a concept about a mechanism may get none.
Every card is taken from a passage in your own Sources, and its back names the Source and the page. A link under the card takes you to that passage.
Your deck, on either plan
A deck is written once and kept, so opening it again shows the same cards. At the end of a round you see how many you got and missed, then go again, or press Look for more cards to have new ones written from the concept’s passages. A card already in the deck is not added twice.

Questions
How often does a card come back?
A card you miss is due again the next day. A card you get right is due again two days later, and the gap doubles each time you get it right again, up to about two months. When you open the deck, the cards that are due come first.
Why does a concept have no cards?
Nothing in its passages worked as a front and a back, so the deck says so and suggests a Lesson or a quiz instead. If you later add a Source that also teaches the concept, the cards are looked for again the next time you open it.
Can I choose what goes on the cards?
You can say what is worth memorising, or how cards should be worded, in the module's Instructions, and the cards are written with that. What is on them still comes only from your Sources.
Do flashcards count towards Today?
Yes. Each card you mark is recorded against its concept, and Today uses that record, with your quizzes and Lessons, to decide which concepts come back and when.
