Every concept, quiz answer and flashcard keeps the place in your study material it was taken from: page 148, slide 12, or 14:20 in a lecture video. Open it, and you are looking at that page, or at that moment in the video.

It finds the concepts

Check it against your own copy
Concepts, quiz questions and flashcards all come from passages in the Sources you added, and each one keeps track of where its passage is. A quiz correction ends with the Source and the page, and the back of a flashcard names the page it came from. In a Lesson, the passage it is citing opens in a small panel over the conversation.
Pressing Open takes you to the place itself, inside SymbioLearn. A PDF opens at the page and a PowerPoint at the slide. Word files, Markdown notes and websites open at the section, with that section marked, and a video starts at the part it came from. If an answer looks wrong, the paragraph around it is there to read.
What you can add
PDFs, Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx) files and Markdown notes, up to 50 MB each, with up to 1,000 pages in a PDF and 1,000 slides in a PowerPoint. Websites and YouTube videos go in as links: public pages, and public videos up to 4 hours long. These limits are the same on both plans.
A PowerPoint is read slide by slide, speaker notes included, with its tables kept as tables and its charts as the numbers behind them. A Word file keeps the headings and numbering you gave it.

Questions
What happens to the files I upload?
They are kept in private storage, and each one can be downloaded again as the file you uploaded. To find the concepts in them, your study material is sent to our AI provider, whose paid API terms say it is not used to train their models. SymbioLearn does not train on it either, or use it to answer anyone else's question. Removing a Source deletes the file and everything read from it.
Can I add a YouTube lecture?
Yes, any public video up to 4 hours long. Paste the link and SymbioLearn splits the video into parts with timestamps. Pressing Play on a concept or a quiz answer starts the video at the part it came from.
What if I only need a few chapters of a textbook?
Add the whole PDF, then switch off the chapters you are not studying. They stay there to read but do not add concepts.
